The mission of The Catholic Archive is to create an all-encompassing digital library of Catholic documents, books, art, and prayers.
This ongoing project uses scanning technology to convert Catholic resources in print to digital form. Next, the digitized material is processed by optical character recognition software to convert it plain text. Complex algorithms are then applied to the text to convert it to XHTML. Finally, the documents are added to The Catholic Archive catalog, where they can be accessed, for free, by anyone, at any time, in any location.
As more Catholic resources are added to the archive, more features will be introduced, such as full-text search. In the meantime, new materials will simply be added to the list below:
